Rubanda, Kabale and Rukiga districts have received a total 4,750 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine from the ministry of health through the National Medical stores.
The consignment will further the government’s initiative of vaccinating Ugandans against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Rubanda district health officer, Abdon Birungi, said that the district received 2,150 doses last evening and vaccination will commence on Monday next week.
Birungi said that the vaccines will only cater for the targeted people who are due for their second dose.
Rubanda district has 3,480 people who are due for the second dose.
Birungi however said that the vaccines will not be enough for all targeted people and promised that the district will in the next few weeks receive the additional vaccines for the remaining population.
In Rukiga, Resident district commissioner, Purikeria Muhindo Mwiine said that the district last evening received 160 doses dose.
This is to inoculate health workers, teachers, civil servants and political leaders who had already received the first dose.
Meanwhile Alfred Besigensi, the acting health officer for Kabale district, said that the district got 1,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
The district has over 2,500 people who are waiting for the second dose.
