MASINDI: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER, 07, 2021
Rose Kirabira Kobusinge the Resident District Commissioner – RDC Masindi has threatened to arrest all bar owners who are operating contrary to the corona virus guidelines.
Last year, President Museveni suspended the operation of some businesses include night clubs, bars and others to contain the spread of the deadly corona virus in the country.
Despite the closure, reports indicate that some businesses that were closed including bars in Masindi district are operating contrary to presidential guidelines, this was revealed during the Masindi district covid 19 taskforce meeting this week.
The resident district commissioner says the bars are operating contrary to presidential guidelines, and are risking people’s lives. “They were suspended to contain the spread of the deadly virus, and if we get any operating they will be arresters and reigned before the courts of law,” she said.
Taskforce members also revealed that the bar owners close themselves, booze and dance. “Some of them have sound proof buildings, you may think nothing is happening yet they are boozing,” they said. On the same note, Kirabira has vowed to investigate into the matter to ensure the culprits are arrested, and charged.
She has also asked all taskforce members to play their roles mostly sensitizing the community on the dangers of corona virus. “It’s our role to remind the community on dangers of corona virus, most of our people have forgotten,” she said.
Kirabira also tasked the security team to tighten belt mostly on boda boda riders who are ferrying more than one person as per presidential guideline. President Museveni lifted ban on boda boda riders were he permitted each to carry one passenger, however, riders in Masindi carry more than one.
The RDC says it’s risking lives and immediate action should be taken. “They are ferrying people, even more than one, and they don’t even wear facemasks and sad of it they don’t even have sanitizers,” she said.
Masindi would be one of districts at the risk of being put under lockdown in the third wave of corona because people have relaxed in observing the standard operating procedures.
