OVER 340 TEACHERS VACCINATED AGAINST COVID 19 IN HOIMA

HOIMA: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 02, 2021

Over 340 teachers in Hoima district have been vaccinated against covid-19 disease on the first day of the mass vaccination exercise for teachers in the area.

The Ministry of Health on Wednesday kicked off a three day mass vaccination of teachers in Hoima to ensure the reopening of schools.

The District Health Officer Hoima Dr. Lawrence Tumusiime explains that at least 347 teachers have been vaccinated in the district on the first day.

Four vaccination centres have been set up at Kakindo and Buhamba primary schools for teachers in the district while those in the city are getting their jabs from Hoima Public and Bwikya Muslim primary schools.

Hoima district received over 5000 doses of Astrazeneca and Sinovac vaccines on Tuesday.

Tumusiime says it’s essential for teachers to be vaccinated as schools are to be reopened.

Rugadya Brian a teacher at Radiant primary school in Hoima City who got his second jab on Wednesday says he was encouraged by the proper arrangements that were put in place by the government, adding that the need to reopen schools has also contributed to the positive response.
