Hon. Allan Atugonza and Hon. Norah Bigirwa receiving relief items from Salam Charity before donating them to flood affected people.



Over 200 families in Butiaba town council in Buliisa district who were affected by floods received relief items last weekend on Saturday donated by Salam Charity a non-profit organization.

Recently, the area members of parliament Hon. Allan Atugonza, and Hon. Norah Bigirwa Nyendwoha had an engagement meeting with the Salam Officials on how to help the flood affected persons in Buliisa District.

The function was held in Piida Village Butiaba town council Buliisa District that included teams from Salam Charity, area members of Parliament, religious leaders and local leaders presided over by Haji Suleiman Kirungi the Chairperson Salam Charity Bunyoro chapter.

Marriam the Bunyoro regional coordinator at Salam Charity said many food and other items have been handed over to the leaders to distribute to the beneficiaries among which included 6 tonnes of posho, 350kgs of rice, 350kgs of sugar, 100 jerrycans, 11 boxes of soap,12 catons of salt, shoes for men and women clothes, mattresses and others.

She says they have done this due to the engagements they had with the area Member of Parliament as in Buliisa district, there are many people suffering due to the floods more so in Butiaba town council.

Hon. Norah Bigirwa Nyendwoha appreciated the donation from Salam Charity and asked other organization to come in and support their people.

Bigirwa thanked the Butiaba town council leaders for the good work done in ensuring that they register the most needful people for the donation.

The legislator appealed to the beneficiaries to share the little they have received with other family members who didn’t receive as one way of showing love to one another.

Hon. Allan Atugonza also appreciated the Salam charity for fulfilling their promises as they were promised with his colleague while they engaged them on the donation.

He added that, the items distributed can`t be enough to everyone but appealed to the people of Buliisa District to be patients as they wait for some other donations from other organizations.

Atugonza called upon other organizations to come in and support the people of Buliisa especially the flood affected persons.

Sheik Ramadhan Adinan one of the beneficiaries appreciated the work done by their area member of parliaments for lobbing for them since if it was not their effort, they would not get any relief from Salam Charity.

He added that residents have experienced many challenges like lack of food, safe water, shelter as their houses were swept away by floods.
