Over 100 young mothers from Nyakasanga in Kasese town have got a reason to smile after receiving an assortment of relief items from the “Young Mothers’ Confidence,” a charity organization operating in Uganda.
The donation was handed over to the beneficiaries on Saturday at Kayembe Elim Pentecostal Church Nyakasanga shortly after a vocational skills training on how to make reusable sanitary pads, liquid soap, hair shampoo and baking among others.
The donation included an assortment of clothes, shoes, bags, sugar and sanitary towels.
Catherine Kunihira, the Organization’s Founder explained that she decided to come up with such an initiative as a way of restoring hope to the young mothers as well as equipping them with the necessary skills for self reliance.
According to Kunihira, her organization also links the young mothers who are willing to go back to school with some educational institutions in a bid to achieve their educational career.
A section of beneficiaries who spoke to our reporter in a jovial mood shortly after receiving their consignments said they would go a long way to relieve them of their challenges.
According to them, during their menstrual periods, they face a lot of challenges coupled with taking care of the children as young mothers, a reason why they hailed “Young Mothers’ Confidence,” for the donation.
