SERERE: THURSDAY, 26 AUGUST 2021
At least 105 Covid-19 patients in Serere County, Serere district have now benefited from Covidex supplied by the Bishop Patrick Okabe foundation.
Okabe is also the area member of parliament for Serere County and through the foundation, he procured 210 bottles of Covidex worth sh6,300,000.
Each recipient was given two bottles of the herbal medicine which the National Drug authority has said is okay to be used in management of viral infections including Covid-19.
The beneficiaries were drawn from the villages of Oteme, Akujatoi, papa, Omagoro, Kakus, Igola and Abokonyo.
The MP has set up his own Covid-19 task-force to coordinate with the district task-force in identifying and distributing the medicine to the people in the villages.
John Bosco Musana, the LC 1 chairman of Opapa village, hailed the Okabe Foundation for the help but pleaded for more from leaders and well-wisher.
However, the beneficiaries say though some leaders have shown concern by giving them Covidex, which most of them would not have afforded, they are starving and in need of food assistance.
They therefore appealed to leaders to also accompany the medicine with food since most of them were put under home based care management due to limited space in hospital to accommodate all patients who test positive with Covid-19.
