Betty Aol Ocan, the Woman Member of Parliament for Gulu City has donated an ambulance to aid transportation of patients.
She also pledged to foot the cost of maintenance of the ambulance while members of the community who need ambulance services will cater for fuel and driver’s allowances.
The MP said she spent sh130m to buy the ambulance from Japan and urged the public to protect and promote the use of the ambulance in fight against Covid-19.
She advised the people to get vaccinated and follow the safety guidelines against Covid-19 that include regular hand washing with soap, keeping social distance and wearing face masks.
Denis Topping, the acting city health officer, thanked the women MP for procuring the ambulance to support in transporting the patients and bridge the gaps of transports.
Meanwhile to promote talent youth talent development, Aol has launched a Christmas Cap football tournament, a competition between all the 32 Wards in Gulu city.
She said the winner will walk away with a trophy and sh200,000 and a set of sports uniforms; the second runner-up will get sh100,000 and uniforms while all participating teams would get one football each.
Topping said football games are good exercises to keep the young people physically fit and safe from developing diseases like diabetes, and hypertension.
