Masindi Receives Sh288m Covid-19 Response Fund, Pays Task-force allowances

MASINDI: TUESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2021

The Masindi district coronavirus taskforce last week began giving out risk allowances after receiving sh288m Covid-19 response fund.

The supplementary funds are meant to facilitate the taskforce and key players like the surveillance team and community mobilisers including the village health teams.

Dr. Baguma said they have already paid the surveillance team while the district task-force members would be paid tomorrow (Wednesday) or latest next Monday.

He further revealed that the money for facilitating the teams at the sub-counties has already been disbursed.

Rose Kirabira, the Resident District Commissioner who is also the district task-force chairperson asked Dr. Baguma to pay the arrears for the last financial year during which the supplementary budgets were approved.

Kirabira told the district health officer to follow the guidelines that the Ministry of Health had given in relation to the supplementary Covid-19 response funds and pay the Village Health Teams and local council chairpersons since they are listed among beneficiaries.

“These people at the village level played a big role in eradicating and stopping the spread of the virus through sensitizing the communities,” she recognized.

In response, Dr. Baguma said that each village health team member and village local council chairperson will be paid sh100,000 as allowance.
