Masindi district has received 2,422 dozes of Sinovac vaccines from the Ministry of Health for inoculation mainly targeting the teachers.
Dr John Turyagumanawe, the in-charge of regional extended program on immunizations following the arrival of the vials, the Bunyoro regional Covid-19 task-force is urging all the eight districts in the region to plan for the vaccination of their teachers.
Dr. Turyagumanawe said this in the Masindi district Covid-19 meeting at the Resident District Commissioner premises on Monday.
He explained that vaccination boosts immune system thus defending the body against the deadly virus, adding that vaccination will keep school children and teachers safe from the virus.
Patrick Baguma, the Masindi District Health Officer, assured the public that the vaccines received over the weekend are safe and effective.
“We are targeting teachers and school staffs, we request school heads to organize their staff to get vaccinated,” Baguma appealed.
Rose Kirabira, the Masindi Resident District Commissioner urged the people to desist from politicizing the vaccination exercise
She emphasized that all teachers and the school staff need to be vaccinated against Covid-19 so as to stop the spread of the virus.
