Updating the Masindi District covid 19 taskforce members this afternoon, Dr. Brian Mugisha the Assistant District Health Officer, In-charge of Maternal and Child Health, Masindi District Local Government revealed that 1018 covid 19 vaccines were administered to teachers last week.
He also said the vaccination exercise is moving on smoothly and they have been able to vaccinate 471 teachers at Masindi General Hospital, 196 at Bulima Primary School, 309 at Pakanyi H/CIII, and 42 at Nyakitibwa H/CIII, 1,403 remaining dozes are going to be administered to teachers this week.
Dr. Mugisha also told the taskforce members that as part of reaching out to more teachers this week, they have opened more five additional vaccination centres which will be operationalized.
The additional centres include Nyantonzi HC III, Kinyara HC III, Kikingura HC III, Kimengo HC III & Kijunjubwa HC III making a total of Nine Covid-19 vaccination centres for teachers in the district.
Masindi district received 2,421 doses of Sinovac from the government of Uganda through the ministry of health to be administered to teachers and school staffs as reopening of schools nears, and a total of 1018 dozes were utilized last week.
Dr. Mugisha has asked the public to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures to contain the spread of the deadly virus. According Dr. Patrick Baguma the DHO – Masindi, it’s now one month without registering new cases of covid 19.
