The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has unveiled a 1.5 million USD project of delivering lifesaving sexual reproductive health and rights and gender based violence services to vulnerable populations in refugee settlements and host communities in Western and Northern Uganda.
During the ceremony held at the Kikuube district council chambers, Desmond Ssekyewa from LWF revealed that they are implementing the project with support from the Japanese government and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Ssekyewa says the project will be implemented in six refugee settlements in Kyegegwa, Kikuube, Isingiro, Kamwenge and Lamwo districts and their vision is to provide safe and wanted pregnancies and making sure no mother dies as a result of maternal mortality.
Olivia Ayebale, the project officer LWF said they are to work with 13 health centers in Kikuube district in the project implementation.
Gerald Asaba, the assistant DHO Kikuube, appreciated LWF for supporting health facilities in the district.
