The Bishop of All Nations church Lira, Rt. Rev. Tom Ibrahim Okello has handed over medical items worth sh9m to Lira city task-force, an effort he says is to help the Covid-19 patients.
The donated items received by Paul Eseru, the Head of Lira city task-force and also the Deputy Lira Resident City commissioner included 66 doses of COVIDEX, 10 boxes of women urinal bags (400 pieces), 30 boxes of sanitary pads, and 2 boxes of bed sanitary pads (8 packets).
Bishop Okello said his initiative of handing over the items as part of his joint collective support to boost the task force team and the Covid-19 patients’ efforts in combating the spread of the killer Coronavirus.
“We are all trying to see how we can all fight this sickness and that’s the reason we came up with such initiative,” he said.
The deputy RCC Eseru applauded the Bishop for showing solidarity during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are excited as Lira city task-force to receive such contributions. It is a clear indication that the Bishop has a heart for people and this will go a long way in fostering unity,” he added
Eseru said the Lira city task-force was still challenged by the many new cases being detected but noted that initiative such as this which are meant to supplement the effort of Government are very welcomed.
He urged the public to always observe the standard operating procedures since Covid-19 is still prevalent among the community.
“I have a very big challenge especially for the people out there in the communities, people thought or are still thinking that the virus has gone but the pandemic is still here,” he charged.
The deputy RCC tasked the Lira Regional Referral Hospital director and principal Health Inspector to communicate out to the people about the pandemic so that they take the necessary precautionary measures.
