Village Health Team – VHT members in Bwesumbu Sub County in Kasese district Rwenzori subregion Western Uganda have a reason to smile after they received their covid-19 facilitation fee to help them execute their duties.
Hezekiah Baluku Mutaaba, the Sub County chairperson says they received shillings 10,800,000 million and that the money has been disbursed amongst the 120 VHT members in all the 24 villages.
Erisania Maate Bulimbendwa and Annet Bithina, says some of the beneficiaries revealed that the facilitation that they received would help them effectively execute their duties.
Bulimbendwa, who also doubles as the Coordinator for Kasangali Parish however reported that some of the villages in which a section of their members operate have not yet received codes to enable them operate as independent villages.
In Maliba Sub-county, the 24 VHT members from Katebe Parish on the hand have a different story.
At their taskforce meeting that was held yesterday at Kihyo Health Centre II, the VHTs rejected the shillings 20,000 that the Parish Chief had carried with him for each of the members.
Moses Baluku, the Parish Coordinator for the VHTs argued that they would not sign the forms until they are paid shillings 60,000 each for the whole quarter.
Jefferson Bwambale, the area Parish Chief told Messiah Radio that he was only given 20,000 for each of the VHT members for one month, adding that they would still get the remaining balance for two months on monthly basis.
