KASESE: THURSDAY, AUGUST 19, 2021
Kasese district Covid-19 task-force has laid down strategies to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, one month after the Ministry of Finance disbursed sh475m supplementary funds to the district.
The receiving of the money was confirmed during the district Covid-19 task-force meeting on Wednesday.
At the height of the Covid-19 second wave in June, the Ministry of health circulated guidelines to all the district councils, cities and municipal councils to pass supplementary budgets to fight the pandemic.
The finance ministry followed up by disbursing the funds in July but it has taken a month for most accounting officers to disclose the receipt of the funds.
During the task-force meeting for Kasese, it also emerged that the additional sh123m was send for the Kasese municipal council to combat the pandemic.
Lt. Joe Walusimbi, the Kasese resident district commissioner, said in a press conference that sh395m will go to the sub-counties and town councils while sh80m will be used to facilitate the task-force to carry out implementation of the planned activities.
The Kasese District Chief Administrative Officer, Amis Masereka Asuman, explained that the money was allocated to the sub-counties depending on the size, population and the number of health facilities in a particular area.
