KASESE: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2021

Education authorities in Kasese Municipality are currently moving in some tertiary institutions of learning to assess the level of compliance to the Covid-19 guidelines ahead of the official reopening.

Emmy Mwesige Kayiri, the Kasese Municipal Education Officer, said that the aim of the inspection is to determine how many institutions would meet the requirements as guided by the Ministry of Education and Sports.

In his latest address to the nation about the Covid-19 situation, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni announced that tertiary institutions would reopen on November 01, 2021 on condition that the instructors and students have been fully vaccinated.

According to Kayiri, the Education Inspectors will after the inspection exercise compile a report to the ministry for further guidance.

He said that some of the things they consider include the number of tutors and lecturers who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and the established hand washing facilities at the site among others.

The education officer warned teachers against contacting private coaching, saying such lessons are illegal and would lead to them being arrested should they be discovered.
