The oral vaccination exercise that started on Sunday is expected to be graced by the Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng as it closes tomorrow.
Dr. Yusuf Baseke, the District Health Officer – DHO Kasese says the exercise which is targeting the young and old people is a continuation of the previous one that was administered last year in the selected 16 sub-counties of Karambi, Maliba, Kisinga, Kitholhu and Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality among others.
He is therefore skeptical that the district might not meet it’s target following the low turn up of the intended beneficiaries yet they are remaining with only one day.
Dr. Baseke also says some of the targeted beneficiaries especially in the sub-counties of Karambi, Kisinga and Nyamwamba Division have reportedly boycotted the exercise on allegations that it might not be safe to their health.
However, the District Health Officer appreciates government efforts towards extending health services to the people in the district.
According to Dr. Baseke, both the cholera and Covid-19 vaccines that are currently being administered are very safe to boost people’s immunity towards contracting related diseases.
Government of Uganda through the ministry of health has played a big role in saving lives of citizens. It has sourced for vaccines to ensure citizens are kept safe, and free from diseases.
