During the election campaigns last year, Hon. Jacob Karubanga the member of parliament for Kibanda South in Kiryandongo district realized the demand of an ambulance in his constituency.
“The most places I trans versed during my campaigns, I realized there was a need for an ambulance to evacuate patients to different health centers for treatment.” He added.
He further explains that he promised to procure an ambulance once he wins the flag for National Resistance Movement. “After winning primaries I procured an ambulance, and it’s now serving our people, I do all the mechanical repair, pay the driver and some times I also fuel it.” He noted.
The politician adds that he didn’t procure the ambulance with the aim of winning the parliamentary sit, but to boost the work of ministry of health mostly during this hard time of corona virus. “In most cases I sponsor the evacuation of patients to referrals. I buy fuel to ensure that lives of our people are saved.” He noted.
He has also asked fellow politicians to boost the work of ministry of health through procuring health equipments. “We may not procure drugs but we procure ambulances or emergency vehicles to boost the work of ministry of health, because we can’t have electorates who are dead, we rather spend our own money and save lives.” He further noted.
Karubanga also noted right now corona virus has hit the entire world, mostly the health sector, and economy. He has therefore asked people to adhere to the standard operating procedures to save lives.
According to Simon Andiku a resident of hanga village in Mboira sub county in the same constituency, the ambulance has reduced the expenses of hiring private vehicles to evacuate them to the hospitals. He adds due to the ambulance, many lives have been saved.
David Nyingambe a resident of Nkwend one village in the sub county notes if other politicians and we’ll wishers support the ministry of health, many lives will be saved mostly during this era of corona virus.
