The Fort Portal City and Kabarole districts in Tooro sub-region, Western Uganda, have received another batch of AstraZeneca vaccine worth 1,544 doses to boost the inoculation exercise against the deadly Coronavirus.
This is the fourth batch of vaccines and it comes at a time when the demand for vaccination is high across the country.
Vaccination exercise in Kabarole district and Fort Portal City was first launched on March 15, 2020 in five health facilities.
These were Mucwa, Ruteete, Kiijura, Bukuuku HCIIIs and Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital.
Dr. Muhenda Steven AkaIcumu, the Fort Portal City health educator, confirmed that both the city and Kabarole district have cumulatively received 9,094 covid-19 vaccines to-date.
He also told our reporter that a meeting will be held on Monday August 16, 2021 to decide on which category to be considered in this vaccination exercise as the doses are not enough for everyone.
Meanwhile, Resty Balinda Mboijana, the Kabarole district secretary for health called upon members of the general public to continue observing the standard operating procedures in order to help government fulfill its goal of securing the future for all Ugandans.
