JAPAN EMBASSY COMMISSIONS STATE OF ART AMBULANCE IN KANUNGU

The Head of Economic Cooperation at Embassy of Japan in Uganda, Kitamura Yoshinori has on Thursday commissioned the state-of-the-art Ambulance at Bwindi Community Hospital in Kanungu District.
The Ambulance registration number UBJ 399T was acquired through the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects.
The Project for Purchasing an Ambulance for Bwindi Community Hospital was signed in 2020 with a total grant US 67,000 dollars and the Ambulance is stocked with hi-tech equipment needed to offer critical care to patients on-board.
According to Dr. Birungi Mutahunga the Executive Director of Bwindi Community Hospital, the acquisition of the new Ambulance will enhance the hospital’s contribution to ambulance service in Kanungu District, and is expected to serve over 100,000 people.
“We are extremely happy to have this Ambulance which will become a moving Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to benefit the people of Kanungu district and it will be put to proper use,” Dr. Birungi said.
The health expert appreciated the generosity of the Japanese to Ugandans, and hopes that the relationship will last forever.
The commissioning of the Ambulance was attended by a number of dignitaries including, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka, the Kanungu Woman Member of Parliament Hon Patience Kinshaba Nkunda, the Resident District Commissiiner Kanungu District Hajji Shaffique Ssekandi, CAO Alex Kwizera among many others.
The RDC Ssekandi thanked the government of Japan for this donation and urged Bwindi Community Hospital to use it for its purpose to benifit the people of Kanungu.
Hajji Ssekandi also appreciated the work being done by Bwindi Community Hospital especially the role they have played in the fight against Covid-19.
Kanungu Woman MP Kanungu Hon Kishaba Patience Nkunda appreciated the love of the Japanese who donated the Ambulance that will help in referral of mothers from villages to the hospital
