HOIMA: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2021
The Hoima East Member of parliament Patrick Mwesigwa has called for concerted effort in advocating for establishment of two health center IVs in Hoima city to improve on health services in the area.
DR Isingoma explained that despite Hoima regional referral Hospital being in the city center, the facility is facing a lot of pressure due to the increasing population in the region.
According to him, Hoima regional referral hospital is serving over 10 districts such as Mubende, Kyankwanzi, Kiboga, Kagadi, Kibaale, Kakumiro, Hoima city, Hoima district, kIKuube, Buliisa, Masindi and Kiryandongo with the catchment of about four million people.
He says the facility faces several challenges such as inadequate staffing, accommodation structures among others
Dr Isingoma says that there is a need to have at least two health center IVs, one in Hoima East Division while another facility in Hoima West Division saying this will reduce the pressure exerted on the referral facility as well as improve on health service delivery.
He noted that currently all the illnesses which are supposed to be handled by health center IVs are always referred to Hoima regional referral which compromises the health services.
