The State House Health Monitoring Unit has chastised a labour export company named Al-Saud for allegedly ripping off unsuspecting Ugandans by selling fake Covid-19 vaccination cards.
According to a statement from the Unit’s executive director Dr Warren Namara, the Salama road based company has been selling to clients fake vaccination cards bearing stamp prints of the ministry of health, Butabika hospital and Selmek medical services.
They backdate stamps and sell them to intending travelers at sh150,000.
Dr Namara said following a tip off on September 17th, investigators from the unit were able to track and trap two suspects from the labor firm.
He identified the culprits as Rashid Shamira (a receptionist) and Abdallah Wanagoli who have since been arrested.
Dr Namara said one of the suspects led their team to the card’s source of printing at Maria’s Galleria shopping mall in Kampala where a number of travel documents were recovered.
These include 46 fake printed certificate of good conduct from Interpol, 26 passports, and birth certificates.
Dr Namara warned Ugandans to be vigilant and vaccinate against Covid-19 so as to get the authentic certificate of vaccination from the Ministry of Health.
