GULU: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 31, 2021

A group of parents, eager to see resumption of schools on Friday participated in cleaning the classrooms, and the compound of Layibi primary school in Gulu City.

They said they want to make sure the school is clear of dirt when their children resume lessons.

Charles Christopher Opira, the Head teacher Layibi primary school thanked the parents for their commitment to ensure education of their children in a clean environment.

He encouraged them to always visit the school to check on their children and teachers once teaching commences in under two weeks time.

“My school is ready for reopening and we are only waiting for these ten days to pass,” he said and assured the parents and pupils that no new charges will be introduced to burden them.

The head teacher disclosed that his teachers will assemble at the school from January 4 to January 6, for the preparation of school reopening.

Francis Okello Odoki Rwotlonyo, the Gulu deputy resident city commissioner advised parents to spend wisely on the New Year’s Day so as to save money for school fees.

The deputy RCC said that he has already written to the city principal education officer instructing him to ensure that schools are fully set for reopening on January 10, 2022.

He said that parents should plan their finance and resource mobilization very well so that children are not tossed around due to lack of school fees.

“When you spend all the money during this New Year celebration, it will be a great disadvantage to you as a parent and to your child when schools reopen,” Rwothlonyo stressed.

David Onencan, the Gulu city Council secretary of health and education revealed that the council together with the principal education officer has organized training for all school head teachers on how to handle children returning from two years of being at home.
