The Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, has highlighted that education is a driver for socio-economic development.
In his New Year message, Bishop Baluku noted that the Covid-19 lockdown has seen about 1.5 million learners locked out of school.
He however said as schools resume lessons from January 10, parents should ensure that all their school going children return to school.
Rev. Baluku cautioned the parents against delaying to provide scholastic materials especially to the girl-child, adding that it is only through education that families can guarantee sustainable development.
The prelate also implored school owners and head teachers to embrace all the measures put in place by the Ministry of Health to curtail the further spread of Covid-19.
He emphasized that once all the precautionary measures are properly followed in Schools, the disease can easily be defeated.
Bishop Baluku challenged Christians to lead by example through faithful service to the community and dedicated leadership.
