The members of parliament for Buliisa recently met the prime minister of Uganda Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja regarding issues affecting service delivery at Bugoigo health centre including floods.
Hon. Allan Atugonza the MP Buliisa Constituency explains that the ministry of health pledged to provide a big tent for emergency respond as the government plans to construct permanent structures for the health facility.
Butiaba health centre was last year submerged by the Lake Albert floods, some services including OPD were transfered to Butiaba Primary School, legislators are working around the clock to ensure the problem is handled.
Hon. Atugonza explains that the big tent has been delayed due to the processes. “When we met the prime minister she promised the issue to be handled, and Butiaba health centre will be shifted once new structures are constructed,” he revealed.
Hon. Norah Bigirwa the Woman MP Buliisa district is asking the government to quicken the process of shifting, and constructing the structures for the health centre.
Bigirwa says since last year, the community of Butiaba have been suffering due to lack of facility as it was totally submerged by floods ,adding that people’s lives are at a high risks of contracting diseases.
After the facility being submerged, the facility had to be transferred to Butiaba primary school and then later on shifted Butiaba town council offices up to date.
Buliisa which neighbors Democratic Republic of Congo is among the districts in the country which were hit by floods, more than one thousand households were affected.
