Uganda Red Cross in conjunction with Kabaka’s Foundation have given out the time table for Blood donation in Buganda’s Counties. The program will last 4 months the winning County will be

From 6th to 10th Buddu County will be visited.

Busiro County will be visited on 21st to 24th September 2021.

Kyaddondo County will be on 12th to 15th of October.

Ssese County will host Red Cross Cross on 26th to 29 th October 2021

Bugerere County will donate on 11th to 12th November 2021

Singo County will 23rd to 26th November 2021

Kyaggwe County 30th November to 3rd December 2021

Buganda asked to give Give blood and keep the world beating a slogan in this years World Blood Donor Day.
“For 2021, the World Blood Donor Day slogan will be “Give blood and keep the world beating”. The message highlights the essential contribution blood donors make to keeping the world pulsating by saving lives and improving others’ health.

Her Royal Highness Nnaabagereka Sylivia Nagginda has launched the biggest blood donation exercise in conjunction with Uganda Red Cross Society at a function held at Bulange Gardens in Kampala.

“I call upon the people of Buganda Kingdom to join the drive of blood donation as a way of saving the life of those in need of blood. The Kabaka’s Foundation is happy to join this noble cause”, HRH Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda said.

Uganda Red Cross Society has given Hon Rtd Gen Katumba Wamala, Minister of Works and Transport an award for donating blood 65 times. Many people make it a point to donate blood in their life time.

Gen Katuma Wamala is healing from Gun wounds he sustained when he survived an assassination attempt by suspected ADF terror cells in Kampala. Red Cross Society saw it befitting to award him ahead of the Buganda Blood donation drive that was flagged off by Buganda’s Queen Mother.

He was not present to receive his award but it was picked on his behalf.  He was thanked for donating blood.

James Harrison dubbed as “THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM”, Uganda Red Cross Society is awarding slowly those people who have donated blood many times,

Harrison said this about donating blood after 62 years, its costs nothing-just a bit of time.

Throughout his life , James Harrison saved the lives of countless babies, he did it all lying down on the bed donating blood.

For 62 years he donated blood on a weekly basis, he holds the Guinness World Record for the most donations made by an individual.

At 81 years, Harrison had to stop donating blood to protect his own health. Buganda Kingdom is calling upon its people to donate blood and save those who need it.

BUGANDA’S QUEEN MOTHER LAUNCHES BIGGEST BLOOD DONATION IN 18 COUNTIES

Her Royal Highness Nnaabagereka Sylivia Nagginda has launched the biggest blood donation exercise in conjunction with Uganda Red Cross Society at a function held at Bulange Gardens in Kampala.

“I call upon the people of Buganda Kingdom to join the drive of blood donation as a way of saving the life of those in need of blood. The Kabaka’s Foundation is happy to join this noble cause”, HRH Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda said.

The blood donation is aimed at increasing on the stocks of blood in hospitals and blood banks.

Leading by example, the Nnaabagereka (Queen Mother) Sylvia Nagginda was the first to donate blood. She promised more support to the cause started with the support of Uganda Red Cross Society.

Uganda Red Cross, Uganda Blood Transfusion Service, and The Kabaka Foundation sealed ties to raise blood through the Masaza (Buganda Counties). There will be an award for the county that raises the highest units of blood.

Long-term supporters of blood donation were recognized at the Kabaka Foundation Blood Drive , they include CBS Radio, BBS Terefayina, and Maj Gen. Katumba Wamala (donated blood 65 times), among others.

URCS spokesperson Irene Nakasiita said this drive opens doors for Uganda Red Cross Society to fulfill their role in mobilizing blood to save lives. She is ready to join leaders in the 18 Counties of Buganda.

The drive will go for a month as we target to meet the Country’s blood needs.

The Kabaka Foundation is a charitable trust registered as a Non-Government Organization. Its overall aim is to institute, promote, encourage and support cultural, educational, literacy, economic, social and charitable projects for the benefit of the public in Buganda and Uganda.
