SOROTI: FRIDAY, AUGUST 27, 2021
The land dispute between the family of one Lule and the community of Achuna village, in Achuna parish, Tubur sub-county in Soroti district over a piece of land earmarked for construction of a health centre has finally come to an end.
This follows protracted negotiations and community dialogue spearheaded by the Soroti resident district commissioner, Patrick Okumu, this week.
The parties initially disagreed over five acres of land but the RDC flashed a thumps up when they resolved their difference and added additional two acres to make it seven acres of land for the health centre.
Tubur is the only sub-county in Soroti without a health centre and the district council has already approved sh465m to finance the construction of the health facility.
“It was a successful dialogue. Lule and his family members agreed to relinquish an acre of land for the development and the community added more acres,” jovial Okumu recounted.
Bob Owiny, the district councilor for Tubur sub-county said now that the land for the health centre has been secured, the district must begin the construction so that the people can access health services from within their reach.
