The police officers in Soroti district have Wednesday arrested 37 people and produced them to court at Soroti City for violating the standing operating procedures issued by ministry of health.
The victims arrested were rounded up by police in bars at night drinking and out of the 37 people arrested 28 people were remanded to prison till 28/09/2021.
ASP Ageca Oscar Gregory the east Kyoga police spokesperson confirms the arrest, detention and remand of the victims.
He said the culprits were arrested in Soroti city in the area of Nakatunya, Kigandani, Teso Inn, Morapesur, Agip on Mbale highway, pamba all within the outskirts of Soroti City.
“The people sentenced were those arrested by law officers in an operation to gain a momentous upper hand in implementation of Covid-19 SOPs compliance”, Ageca.
The police at East Kyoga territorial command cautions the public against disobedience of Covid-19 SOPs, and that those found in contravention shall similarly face the law.
However it’s on record that Soroti and Teso at large is on a surge of covid19.
