Rukungiri Warns Teachers On Covid-19 Vaccination

RUKUNGIRI: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2021

The Rukungiri District Education Officer (DEO) together with Rukungiri district Covid-19 task force, have warned teachers against dodging Covid-19 vaccination saying they risk losing their jobs.

Jackson Turyahumura, the DEO, said that teachers who don’t want to get vaccinated are a danger to school children and staff and no untested teacher will be allowed to stand in front of innocent students.

Turyahumura underlined that teachers have no excuse whatsoever to shun vaccination

Nsubuga Stephen Bewayo, the RDC Rukungiri also sent a warning to those teachers who want to avoid vaccination that the government is ready to handle them with an iron hand.

He said that they are aware that some teachers want to buy fake vaccination certificates but those caught will lose their jobs.

The RDC thanked teachers who turned up in big numbers for vaccination and encouraged the rest of the public to keep observing prevention measures.

This message comes in when Rukungiri district has 1,012 recoveries out of 1,142 positive cases and 22 cumulative deaths.

There are currently 55 people who are active positive cases since the second wave subsided.
