Youth in Masindi district have joined hands and cleaned the OPD, administration block, and wards at Masindi district general hospital a head of the commemoration of World Youth Day.
Barbanasi Tumuhairwe the Masindi Youth Chairperson explains that they decided to plant trees in the sub counties and divisions across the district, and clean the general hospital since this year’s theme is Innovation for transforming food system and sustainable human health.
Tumuhairwe says in the aspect of human health, they talked to the district administration which permitted them to do the general cleaning at the hospital premises. “We cleaned the walls, scrubbed, and also planted trees to green the hospital premises,” he added.
He emphasized the community about the awareness of life and nature. He also explained that they planted the tree species which can provide herbal medicine for first aid, and those which can provide enough shade at the hospital where patients can have rest.
Tumuhairwe has encouraged all people in the district to embrace improving hygiene in their homesteads, and also plant trees to fight environment change. “We are trying to bring back the ecosystems,” he noted.
This year’s theme for the commemoration of World Youth Day is “Innovation for transforming food system and sustainable human health”, and the commemoration will be held this week on Friday at Red Cross Premises in Masindi town.
